We Thank Our Funders

  CALIFORNIA OLMSTEAD SUMMIT

On September 29 and 30, 2010, Californians for Olmstead, with leadership from the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers and Disability Rights California, convened 53 disability community leaders for the California Olmstead Summit in Sacramento. The purposes of the Summit were:

1. Engage disability leaders from a variety of organizations in the Californians for Olmstead Coalition;
2. Bring the energy of several key national experts to California's Olmstead implementation;
3. Design proactive strategies to support community living for people with disabilities in California.

Highlights of the Summit included a keynote address from United States Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Sam Bagenstos, a presentation from national long-term care financing expert Dr. Leslie Hendrickson, and training in effective communications and messaging from the DEMOS Center for the Public Sector.
